Course Description:
Your shoulder patient has utilized all the physical/occupational therapy visits that their insurance is willing to pay…and you aren’t ready to let them “go it alone” at the local gym…what can you do to “Bridge the Gap”? In this video, Darrell Smith, MPT, RN and Nick Dobson, CSCS work together to focus on how to help make the transition from therapy to aftercare more seamless and effective. This video course focuses on: -The Training Program Post-Assessment -Strength Training Specific Shoulder Musculature -Proximal to Distal Training Implications -A “Return to Posture”

Course Goals and Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the incidence and prevalence of shoulder injury
- Identify and understand shoulder specific muscular strength training
- Differentiate between muscular players and how it affects overall rehabilitation
- Recognize specific muscular patterns in shoulder aftercare
- Identify muscular insufficiencies and how to advance rehabilitation
- Recognize specific shoulder anatomy and dynamics
- Identify the process or strength training of “proximal to distal”
- Recognize “relative stiffness” and subsequent compensatory problems
- Identify techniques for a “return to posture” and programming techniques
- Recognize appropriate resistance training parameters
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
