Did you know that Dementia was an umbrella term and that several diagnoses, like Alzheimer’s Disease, was part of that population? 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease. Can we help them? Does therapy intervention benefit them at all? Does Medicare cover skilled intervention?
Dr. Aditi Mehra, DHS, OTR/L walks us through an in-depth look at Dementia and how therapists can be beneficial and provide optimal patient care. This course will cover:

*Differentiating between Dementia, Delirium and Depression
*Loss of mobility, visual/auditory and olfactory hallucinations in Dementia

- Identify the different lobes of the brain and which is responsible for each activity
- Recognize the characteristics of a brain with Dementia
- Differentiate between Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Bodies Dementia and Frontotemporal Dementia
- Differentiate between the 3 D’s – Dementia, Depression and Delirium
- Recognize the benefit of therapy interventions with irrational behaviors of dementia
- Identify loss of mobility with dementia and subsequent therapy interventions
- Recognize Diagnostic testing for Dementia
- Identify drugs used in the treatment of Dementia
- Recognize the 3 Myths of Dementia and Therapy Treatment
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
