Course Goals and Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify the prevalence, challenges, and costs of pain management in older adults
- Recognize the biopsychosocial model of persistent pain
- Recognize components of a proper examination and evaluation of the patient with pain
- Identify therapy interventions to address pain
- Identify cognitive-behavioral approaches to pain management
- Recognize a proper examination of older candidates for an orthosis
- Identify orthotic components
- Identify the fit and effectiveness of an orthosis
- List possible clinical applications of the orthotic
- List examination considerations relevant to physiological changes of aging, prosthetic prescription, prosthetic use, and rehabilitation
- Recognize a therapy diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care to guide therapy rehab
- Identify outcome measures and assessments in regard to prosthetic rehab
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
