Course Goals and Objectives:

At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Identify the mechanical support, movement, and visceral function of fascia
2. Differentiate between acute and chronic sources of inflammation in the fascia
3. Identify biological effects, patient benefits and clinician benefits of IASTM/STM
4. Identify indications and differentiate between relative and absolute contraindications to IASTM
5. Recognize current IASTM research and its outcomes
6. Differentiate between IASTM tools and recognize when to use each
7. Identify IASTM principles/parameters
8. Recognize common indications for IASTM in each upper body muscle group
9. Identify how to perform a thorough initial assessment and determine the appropriateness of IASTM for a patient
10. Identify IASTM scenarios through case studies

Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:

A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
