Occupational Therapy Ethics
Course Description:
“Occupational Therapy Ethics” was designed to help therapy professionals with the ethical dilemmas they face in the workplace. The course is designed to promote a better understanding of ethics, morals and legal behavior in the hopes of facilitating a better decision-making process for professionals in ethical situations. The information also includes the AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards, the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct, and the Procedures for the Enforcement of the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct.

Course Goals and Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Define Ethics
- Define Morality
- Identify the basic similarities and differences between ethics and morals
- Differentiate between common ethical theories
- Define determinants of moral and ethical behavior
- Understand the ethical decision-making process
- Interpret and apply the AOTA’s Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards
- Interpret and apply the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct
- Understand and incorporate the Procedures for the Enforcement of the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
