Course Description:
“Occupational Therapy Ethics” was designed to help therapy professionals with the ethical dilemmas they face in the workplace. The course is designed to promote a better understanding of ethics, morals and legal behavior in the hopes of facilitating a better decision making process for professionals in ethical situations. The information also includes the AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards, the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct, and the Procedures for the Enforcement of the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct.
Dr. Aditi Mehra, DHS, OTR/L will help you better understand the role of ethics in the workplace.
This course will cover:
- Define Morality & Ethics
- Identify the basic similarities and differences between ethics and morals
- Differentiate between common ethical theories
- Identify determinants of moral and ethical behavior
- Recognize the ethical decision-making process
- Identify and apply the AOTA’s Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards
- Identify and apply the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct
- Identify and apply the procedures for the enforcement of the NBCOT Candidate/Certificant Code of Conduct

- Differentiate between ethical decision-making models
- Identify and apply the AOTA Code of Ethics
- Identify and apply the AOTA Standards of Conduct
- Identify and apply the NBCOT Professional Code
- Differentiate between NBCOT Principles/Code of Conduct
- Recognize the NBCOT procedures for the enforcement of the candidate/certificant code of conduct
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
