Rehabilitation of the Golfer

Course Description:

Statistics say that 29,000,000 Americans play golf.  Many of them "think" they are Tiger Woods...but their frequent and reoccurring injuries tell us that they are not.  This course is designed to help therapists effectively treat and prevent golf injuries. 

This course will discuss how to:

-Know and understand the most common injuries in golf
-Understand the basics of the golf swing
-Understand the influence of the golf swing on pathology
-Perform a basic golf fitness exam
-Golf related mobility/stability/flexibility exercises
-Golf injury -joint specific treatment

Course Goals and Objectives:

At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Identify common golf injury sites
2. Recognize "overuse" injuries in golf
3. Identify Basic Keys to a Successful Golf Program for therapists
4. Recognize common golf positions and proper postural alignment
5. Differentiate between Upper Crossed Syndrome and Lower Crossed Syndrome
6. Recognize common golf injuries by area
7. Identify components of a Quick Golf Exam
8. Describe a thorough exam including Posture/Clearing Movements/Grip Strength/FMS and Joint Specific Exams
9. Identify treatment for joint specific injuries
10. Recognize decision-making process for Return to Golf after injury

Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:

A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
