Return to Sport: Guidelines to Testing for the Lower Extremity
This video course answers the ever prevalent and sometimes intimidating patient/parent/coach/doctor question "When can Jack return to playing football?" (or other sport). As clinicians, how do we know when it is safe to give the green light? How do we deal with parents/coaches that are upset if we don't endorse a return to sport? This video will walk the clinician through "Guidelines to Testing for the Lower Extremity".
Mark Brown, PT, CSCS will give clinicians a clear set of objective measurable tests that take the individual bias out of the return to sport decision.

Course Goals and Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify why we need to test prior to return to sport.
- Recognize factors that prevent return to sport
- Differentiate between testing types/components
- Recognize when isokinetic testing is appropriate
- Identify "what we are looking for" as clinicians during testing
- Recognize the Functional Movement Screen and how to administer the screen
- Differentiate between Functional Movement Screen grading
- Evaluate the specificity/sensitivity and reliability of return to sport tests
- Recognize the Y Balance/Excursion Testing and how to administer the screen
- Describe the final scoring process and what it means for an athlete waiting to return to sport
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
