This video course identifies the common hip, foot and ankle pathologies commonly seen in dancers...from a surgeon's perspective. Zak Knutson, MD and Brian Clowers, MD will explain injuries of the dancing athletes, what surgical options exist, and appropriate post-surgical rehab techniques.
The course focuses on the topics of:
-How is the dancing athlete different
-What hip injuries are commonly seen and how to treat them surgically and non-surgically
-Common ankle injuries in the dancer
-Why foot pathologies are more difficult to treat in a dancer

Course Goals and Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Recognize an overview of the hip anatomy, pathology associated with the hip, and surgical intervention involving the hip
- Recognize an overview of the foot and ankle anatomy, pathology associated with the foot and ankle, and surgical intervention of the foot and ankle complex
- Identify common anatomical hip issues with dancers
- Differentiate between common hip provocation pain tests
- Recognize characteristics of an external/internal snapping hip
- Identify surgical rehab guidelines for the hip
- Recognize foot and ankle conditions that commonly affect dancers
- Identify management techniques for acute/chronic lateral instability of the ankle
- Recognize adjuctive surgical procedures for chronic lateral instability
- Identify Hallux MTP joint pathology
Criteria for Obtaining Continuing Education Credits:
A score of 70% or greater on the post-test
